Producing Tactile Graphics
The production methods most commonly used in school settings, by braille transcribers and tactile graphics specialists are highlighted in this section:
- collage,
- foil,
- microcapsule paper and fuser
- computer designed.
In addition to these common production methods, students will encounter tactile graphics in their textbooks and ancillary materials that have been produced by commercial processes such as
- press braille (APH),
- ink and resin deposit methods (Braille Jymico, Tactile Vision, APH, ghBraille), or
- CAD/silkscreen (TouchGraphics).
It is important that students have the opportunity to experience graphics in all production methods. Many commercial braille agencies also produce standardized tests, using their unique production methods.
